Hot October is a high energy, five piece bluegrass band. They are some of the best pickers in southern California, and one of LA’s premier bluegrass groups. They combine traditional favorites, and add their own original contemporary bluegrass songs to the mix. Their new album has already had great reviews in it’s pre-release. The band travels regularly to play festivals, Hollywood events, breweries, even the occasional barn dance!
David Tranchina (bass, vocal harm) has the musical freedom to rip through these punchin' bluegrass songs, while his bowed technique sets him far apart from other players.
Sasha Birrittella (guitar, vocal harm) picks up the acoustic guitar and you can see burning flat picking lines with impeccable time. His vocals bring that perfect touch to modern bluegrass songs.
Craig Ferguson (mandolin/dobro, vocal harm) has made a true name for himself in the bluegrass world playing on many albums, and backing countless artists. His tenor vocal is perfect for a high lonesome sound.
The band is driven with original songs written by Jesse Olema and Paul Fuller.
Paul (banjo, lead vocal) has played the banjo all his life, and has a tight melodic pickin' style that will blow most players out of the water. He leads the bluegrass lifestyle of hunting, fishing, living outdoors and his songs reflect that tradition with a feeling of today.
Jesse Olema (fiddle, lead vocal) has been playing fiddle since the age of five. Growing up in the northern California hills, he was able to create a style all his own. Soulful and melodic playing, with a deep groove and an attack that has earned him some top spots playing with artists all over the world. As an original songwriter, he finds a home in the bluegrass realm with Hot October.
